The Philp family commenced trading as J.D. & G.A. Philp in August 1973, and in 1979 Peter Brodie joined them.
Because of the rapid expansion of the business and the compatible high ethical standards held by both the Philps and the Brodies, the name was changed from J.D & G.A. Philp to Philp Brodie Grains in January 1984.
PBG place a strong emphasis on service to growers and now has access to 1200 producers. A professional team has been developed who have earned an enviable reputation within the industry for our ethical business practices, financial strength, professionalism, accessibility and knowledge base. The majority of our staff have rural backgrounds – many of them with tertiary qualifications.
Good reputations are difficult to build and maintain. PBG has been working on this since we began trading. Our emphasis for timely payments, our friendly staff and focus on service to producers and end users have built a reputation for reliability and trustworthiness in the industry.

The Administration team lead by Catherine Brodie and Cheri Patzwald provides ongoing administrative support to the whole PBG team, with our receptionist Mande Janetzki, carrying out many supporting roles within Philp Brodie Grains. Further administrative support is provided by Lisa Matthews and Louise Bazley throughout many areas within the business.
Our enthusiastic Commodity Trading team includes Peter Brodie, Phil Albury and Keith Weier. With in excess of sixty years of trading experience they are constantly monitoring the domestic and international markets to generate further marketing opportunities. Assisting in theTrading Area are Jerry O'Sullivan and Ian Morgan who bring a wealth of experience to the Philp Brodie Grains team.
The highly effective Logistics team made up of Geoff Billsborough, Elaine Reis, Craig Dennis and James Balmain continually supports the diversified business structure of Philp Brodie Grains. Supporting the Trading Team as well as the Seed Department, the Logistics team’s aim is to provide a highly efficient and effective service to both producers and end users through the provision of freight requirements and timely and accurate information on request.
Our Seed Department is led by David Ridgway with Owen Anderson managing the day-to-day movements of inventory within the PBG warehouse. All seed orders are received and despatched through this area so at various times throughout the year the environment can be very dynamic.
