Tom Howard - General Manager

Tom joined the PBG team in October 2010 following nine years working abroad, most recently in Dublin as Commercial Director of a Top 50 Irish Company. In April 2011 Tom was appointed GM of PBG, working closely alongside Peter Brodie to ensure the continuation and further development of the high level of localised growers service PBG has always offered. Tom has had a very close involvement in the Australian grains industry having spent five years as CEO of a grower owned Co-Operative in Nth NSW. During his time at the Co-op tonnages handled increased from 250,000mt to 750,000mt pa. Tom also played a key role in the development, construction and operation of a 250,000mt grain storage and export packing facility, the establishment of a dedicated Research Company and the creation key Joint Ventures for the exporting of grain into Asia, the subcontinent and NZ whilst running the Co-Op.  Tom holds a B.Ag.Ec from UNE and an MBA from Trinity College Dublin.

Craig Dennis - Operations Manager

Craig joined Philp Brodie Grains in February 2004 as the Logistics Coordinator organising the movements of grain across the eastern seaboard. Craig’s 10 years’ experience in Logistics has given him a strong understanding of the grain supply chain across the Eastern Seaboard in both the domestic and exports areas. Prior to Philp Brodie Grains Craig has worked with GrainCo, MarketLink and GrainCorp in coordination and management roles.

Leigh Grunberger – Logistics Manager

Leigh joined Philp Brodie Grains in May 2009 as Logistics Coordinator. His previous experience was in the oil and gas industry. He was employed as Operations Manager dealing in transport and logistics . His expertise and commitment to the job within Philp Brodie Grains has been recognised and has seen Leigh being promoted to Logistics Manager

Ben Hardy - Grain Merchant

Ben joined the PB Grains team in September 2010 and is the primary merchant of the cottonseed book. Bens' background in Agriculture stems back 20 years, commencing work as a jackaroo and farming on some of the most remote properties in Western Queensland. Bens passion for trading began at JH Williams Murwillumbah for several years, before he returned to work on cattle and cropping properties throughout the UK. Upon his return to Australia, Ben spent time trading at JBS Swift in the meat industry; trading in mostly the international market. He has since returned to Toowoomba to dedicate his knowledge and experience at a local level. Ben has great experience trading both on the domestic and international market, and his primary focus and responsibilities include wheat, sorghum, corn and cottonseed. Ben is a member of the Australian Maize Association.

Francisco Lettieri - Grain Merchant

Francisco joined the PB Grains team in April 2011 as a Grain Merchant focusing primarily on the Northern NSW cropping region. He has over 10 years experience working in agricultural industries in both Australia and his native Argentina. After completing his agricultural engineering degree in Buenos Aires, Francisco moved to Australia where he worked as an Agronomist for B&W Rural/ Elders in Moree for more than 5 years. During this time he rapidly expanded his networks, developing close working relationships with key growers & other stakeholders in the region. Prior to joining PB Grains, Francisco has spent the past few years working in the fertiliser industry, applying his technical knowledge to the product development and marketing end of the business.

Jerry O’Sullivan - Grain Merchant

Jerry has worked in the rural industry for just over 40 years which includes 18 years in livestock auctioneering and some 24 years in the seed and grain industry. The areas which Jerry has worked have been mostly in southern Qld with some time spent in the Central Highlands and Callide Dawson areas of Qld as well as Northern NSW.


Matt Hintz - Administration Manager

Matt joined Philp Brodie Grains in March 2004 after being with Grainco Australia for 7 years in various administrative roles. As Administration Manager, Matt is responsible for the day to day running of our office in Industrial Avenue as well as a member of the OHS Committee. He is also responsible for the execution of export contracts, liaising with Packers, AQIS & Shipping Lines

Andrew Jurgs - Regional Trading Manager

Andrew joined the PBG team in late October 2011 following two years of working as a grains and sugar analyst for the Czarnikow Group based in London, during his time abroad he gained valuable exposure to both the international sugar and grains markets where he was involved in a number of different projects to better trade the relationship between the two commodities. Andrew’s passion for agriculture stemmed from growing up on the Darling Downs where his parents farmed cereals, pulses and cotton between Cecil Plains and Dalby. This grounding of growing up on the land has given Andrew a strong insight into farming and the importance of the relationship between the grower and the grain trader. Prior to leaving for the UK, Andrew enjoyed for working in the grains and cotton industries where he worked for both Pentag Nideria and Queensland Cotton.


Keith Weier - Philp Brodie Grains Agent

Keith has actively acquired and sold grains on behalf of PBG for in excess of 15 years. Keith is one of the most widely known and respected grain agents operating on the inner Downs with a reputation for looking after growers better than anyone else. Keith’s extensive knowledge of the Downs grain markets couple with his absolute dedication to grower service makes Keith a valuable member of the PBG team.

Geoff Billsborough - Logistics and Trading Support

Geoff was the fourth employee for Philp Brodie Grains commencing in 1980. He has played an integral part in the development of the company to its current strength in administration and logistical fields. Prior to commencing with PBG, Geoff had been involved in agriculture all his life, fertilizer with Austral Pacific Fertilizers, chemicals with Shell Chemical and hybrid seeds with Pioneer. He is fortunate now to be able to finalize his working career in an environment he loves and still enjoys handling the challenges the industry provides.

Lisa Matthews - Logistics Support Officer

Lisa joined Philp Brodie Grains in 2004 working in administration, assisting in accounts and logistics. She is now responsible for the administration of grower, carrier and end user processing.

Lisa has come from a farming background also owning and assisting in the operation of a farm at Jondaryan for 17 years. She has over 21 years of experience of administration in accounts and logistics with feedlots and various companies in the grain industry on the Darling Downs.

 

Elaine Reis - Logistics Support Officer

Elaine joined Philp Brodie Grains in 1998. She comes from a farming background and has spent the last 27 years working in the agricultural industry having previously been employed by Pioneer Seeds, Austech Seeds and Cargill Australia Ltd. Her current role within PBG is in the administrating of grower and carrier payments and end user invoicing.

 

Peter Thompson - Logistics Coordinator

Peter joined the PBG team in July 2011 as Logistics Coordinator, organising grain movements across the Eastern seaboard.  For the past ten years Peter was the Wheat Intake Manager for Allied Mills, Toowoomba, where he was responsible for the wheat movement in and through the flour mill.

Having grown up on a cattle, sheep and grain property in the St George area, Peter brings with him a wealth of experience in the Agriculture industry.  He also spent 9 years in the shearing industry as well as working on the oil rigs for 3 years.  For the past 24 years Peter has been with Defiance/Allied Mills.

Tracey Harber - Receptionist / Administration Assistant

Tracey is the latest member of the PBG team.  She is new to the grain industry but not Reception and Administration roles.  Her last position was in Brisbane with Accommodation Services for The Wesley Hospital. Tracey and her husband Brian managed a motel for nearly four years accommodating country and overseas patients and their families staying whilst they were having various treatments and/or recovering from operations. Prior to that, she had her own successful therapy business here in Toowoomba for 12 years. Tracey grew up, went to school and raised her two children here and is very happy to be back in Toowoomba.
